Harvard Pilgrim Health Care logoHartford, Conn. (Dec. 17, 2015) - Harvard Pilgrim Health Care announced today that its Connecticut membership has grown to more than 24,000, exceeding expectations for 2015. It now serves more than 800 Connecticut businesses. The not-for-profit health plan began offering coverage in Connecticut in mid-2014 and is the newest entrant into the Connecticut market.

“Our competitive rates, strong provider network and civic minded, non-profit nature are fueling our growth,” says Jason Madrak, Harvard Pilgrim’s Connecticut Vice President. “The market was clearly ready for a high quality, high value not-for-profit to begin offering health coverage to Connecticut’s citizens and businesses.

“Our approach has been all about keeping it local,” Madrak continued. “We have a Connecticut-based team that works out of our Hartford office, and we are committed to knowing our customers, serving the community and offering the highest quality products and services.”

Harvard Pilgrim expanded to Connecticut last year, enhancing its existing market in New England, which also includes Massachusetts, New Hampshire and Maine. With Harvard Pilgrim’s entry to Connecticut, it became the only not-for-profit, regional health plan operating in four contiguous New England states.
