Hartford, Conn. (September 12, 2016) — The Connecticut Health Council is taking its mission to Washington, D.C., promoting Connecticut as a center of excellence for collaboration and innovation in the health sector. The Council, an initiative of the MetroHartford Alliance, will host its DC Forum September 14-15 in the nation’s capital at the Columbus Club in historic Union Station.
Several leaders representing the health sector from DC-based organizations plan to attend the inaugural Forum to discuss a variety of health care topics, including innovation and disruption. The Forum will also include a discussion of the likely impact of this year’s presidential and congressional elections on health care policy, the Affordable Care Act and other health initiatives.
“Connecticut continues to be a national leader in the health care and insurance industries,” said Senator Chris Murphy at a recent Alliance program highlighting the DC trip. “This month’s forum will be a great opportunity for us to demonstrate this expertise and also to share best practices with government and industry leaders from across the country so we remain on the cutting edge of health care innovation.”
"The DC Forum is designed to enhance the collaboration among leaders of Connecticut’s dynamic health sector while showcasing Connecticut’s depth and breadth as a center of health expertise,” said Amy Cunningham, Executive Director, Connecticut Health Council. “Our goal is for attendees to leave the Forum with cross-cutting, relevant, and valuable information, so that Connecticut’s health sector continues to thrive.”
The Forum will conclude with a discussion about Council initiatives and programs in 2017.
